What it replaces: Mass-produced glass pendant shades from high street retailers that use industrial molding processes instead of hand-blown craftsmanship. These factory-made alternatives lack depth and visual texture - they're uniform, predictable, and identical to thousands of others. Cheap pendants often use thin glass that feels fragile, with applied color coatings that can peel or fade rather than integrated colored glass.
Why it matters: Borosilicate glass is virtually indestructible under normal use. It doesn't degrade, discolor, or become brittle like cheap soda-lime glass. The colors are integrated into the glass structure during creation - they can't fade, peel, or wear off because they're part of the material itself.
